Edo PDP and the politics of reconciliation

As the elections year approaches, the Edo State PDP has continued to re-group into a formidable force against the ruling party in the big contest. But efforts by the party are being challenged by divergent interests, reports JAMES AZANIA
Recent reconciliation moves by the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State underscore efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission in whipping hitherto sleepy political parties in the state into line in view of the 2011 general election. With the newly released elections timetable, it needs no soothsayer to tell that INEC has provided the impetus for active political activities. And, in the Edo PDP, it starts with fence-mending and fresh expression of commitment by party members.
