Indelible pains: Sri Lankans commemorate vicitims in 2004 tsunami

A Sri Lankan woman commemorates the victims of the December 2004 tsunami, offering flowers, prayers and alms during a special ceremony to mark the six-year anniversary in the southern coastal town of Peraliya on December 26, 2010. Organisers had also restored a train that was damaged during the Boxing Day tsunami for a special journey to Peraliya, that included safron-robed Buddhist monks chanting prayers for hundreds of train passengers who perised when tidal waves slammed the carriages. Some 31,000 people died in the South Asian tsunami, while a million left homeless when tidal waves hit the tropical island's coastal lines.
