The Lagos State Government‘s 2010 Budget achieved 81 per cent performance in the third quarter of the year. This makes it the highest budget performance since the inception of the present administration.
The Commissioner, Economic Planning and Budget, Lagos, Mr. Ben Akabueze, disclosed this at an interview with journalists after a State Treasury Board meeting to review the third quarter performance of the 2010 Budget and preparations for the 2011 budget.
He said the performance was on the original budget of N389bn, adding that with the approval of the supplementary budget, there would be a step up of activities to finish the year with the same performance or even better.
”All significant lines did well at the end of the third quarter. The revenue expenditures are within limits. We are very satisfied with the performance and we hope to sustain that trend in this last quarter or even improve on it”, he said.
In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr. Hakeem Bello, the commissioner said the development would lead the government into 2011 whose draft budget was already being worked out.
Akabueze said, ”We have a major task on our hands this last quarter in terms of construction work; but we should be able to catch up and we are hopeful that we will finish the year with the performance in the same region or even better.”
