NETPod – ‘The Way You Are’ + ‘Don’t Let Me Know’ – Darey

Darey

Project Fame alumnus, Darey, has had a relatively quiet 12 months by his standards. With the exception of the odd high-profile performance with his Soul band, and the hype that accompanied the release of his tease of a record, Stroke Me, late last year, the TV presenter, bandleader, business man and MC (I’m pretty sure I left out something here) has been pretty laid back on the entertainment side of things, but all that’s about to change with the release of twin records The Way You Are and Don’t Let Me Know.
Now, if you’ve ever had an insecure spouse or a 0.5 who needed your reassurance on just about everything from their hairstyle, to the color of their nail polish, you’d easily relate to The Way You Are. Cobham’s edgy guitar riffs give this record a soft rock-feel, as a vocally energetic Mr. Art-Alade, plays a reassuring role in your lady’s ear. Don’t Let Me Know is a mellower, more traditional R&B record, with the singer intent on distancing himself from his ex-lover’s newfound happiness, while making a wholehearted attempt to win her love back.
If you like what you hear from the R&B heartthrob, be sure to pick up Darey’s yet-to-be-titled junior album when it hit stores in the not-too-distant future.
