Understanding Kwara’s political arithmetic

As politicians in Kwara State strategise for governorship position, EMMANUEL ADDEH writes that the consensus by stakeholders is that only transparency in the Peoples Democratic Party’s primaries will keep the party intact Coined by the savvy, charismatic and unrepentantly flamboyant late Senate President, Chuba Okadigbo, the word ‘political arithmetic‘ is today used to describe the whole gamut of activities, calculations and manoeuvrings by players in the nation‘s political turf.

However, this is neither about the man Okadigbo, a man described as the last of the country‘s most colourful politician, nor about his many coinages and quotable quotes. It is about the plots and counter-plots; the twists and turns in Kwara politics in preparation for the 2011 election.
