Skuki and KISS Media Separation – What Went Wrong?

Skuki
Following NET’s report of Banger hit makers - Skuki severing ties with erstwhile managers KISS Event Media, the duo’s record label – Daphella Entertainment has come out to clear the air. According to Daphella, the separation was based on mutual agreement between the two parties, and is effective from October 20, 2010.
According to a statement made available to NET, Skuki signed a 2-year management contract with the Howie-T-led KISS on September 1, 2009 and the contract was due to expire on August 31, 2011. As part of the agreement, KISS was to manage the artistes’ publicity, promotion and marketing as concerns their debut album B.A.N.G.E.R – including outdoor performances.
However, the label alleged that KISS lacked the commitment to actualize these goals; causing the album to flop commercially.‘When Skuki’s album was packaged and finalised before the release in May, 2010, KISS hailed the songs and adjudged them. I quote ‘solid and very commercial’, insists Daphella Entertainment boss Daniel Attiogbe. ‘They went ahead to give the label the assurance of the album’s success. The album was not well circulated and hence didn’t get to its deserved height’, he opines.
However, Daphella assured us that plans are in motion to relaunch Skuki’s debut album, and revealed that the new marketing strategy would make the album available on ‘Skuki’s fans doorsteps’. ‘We want to make it clear that all is fine between Daphella Entertainment, Skuki and KISS Event Media. This was just a contract issue that naturally will never last forever’, Daniel reassured.
