Human error caused Australia's Next Top Model bungle
A PRODUCER of Australia's Next Top Model - not host Sarah Murdoch - was to blame for the wrong contestant being named as the show's winner, Foxtel and production company Granada say.
The broadcaster and production company have both conducted a thorough internal investigation following the bungled broadcast and confirmed that it was human error, and not a technical glitch, which caused the incident and have apologised to Murdoch.
Murdoch was left horrified after a communication error backstage caused what could be one of the more embarrassing TV calls of the year.
She announced Kelsey Martinovich had beaten fellow favourite Amanda Ware but after a few seconds, a devastated Murdoch put a hand to her mouth and gasped: "Oh, I'm so sorry, Kelsey. There's been a mistake."
Brian Walsh, executive director of television, said: "It was important that Foxtel, as broadcaster, and Granada, as the series producer, conducted our own review of Tuesday night's events.
