Ekiti 2011: Back to the drawing board
L-R: Fayemi, Oni
The Court of Appeal’s affirmation of the Action Congress of Nigeria’s governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, as the governor has changed political permutations for the aspirants and political parties, FEMI MAKINDE writes. The historic victory of Dr. Kayode Fayemi in the legal marathon battle to reclaim his mandate from the ousted governor, Mr. Segun Oni, and chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, who denied him his legitimate right for about 42 months, brought a big relief to the people of the state. I’m ready for probe, says Oni
Former Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Segun Oni
Ousted former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Segun Oni, has challenged his successor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to probe him if he can.
Oni, who spoke through a former Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Segun Ilori, in Abuja on Sunday while reacting to a statement credited to the new governor, said his “performance while in office was nationally acknowledged, adding that such a probe would be mere “shadow-boxing.”
He said the first challenge facing Fayemi, who was sworn-in on Saturday following the nullification of Oni’s election by the Court of Appeal in Ilorin, should be how to complete the numerous projects he (Oni) initiated during his three and half years in office.
He said, “We welcome the statement credited to the new governor to probe the administration of Oni.
