Olu Maintain, Eunice Efole still an item?

Olu Maintain with friend
Yahoozee crooner, Olu Maintain, is a guy many ladies still wish to have as their partner.

He is still single, but some people don’t know if he is searching. In recent times, he has been identified and seen together with Lagos big gal, Eunice Efole.

It was alleged that both celebrities are now an item. But recently, Olu, in an interview he granted to a soft-sell magazine, described Eunice as his “very good friend,” saying there was nothing intimate between them.

However, some people are still wondering how true the statement is as both of them are still having the fun of their lives together.

Life and Beat caught the duo in a club recently and of course, they were having a ball. Even then, some busybodies were still asking if Eunice was the latest babe in the life of Mr. Olu.

Darey gets hotter

Darey
Darey is smoking hot! He has wowed a lot of ladies, and even men’s hearts with his love songs and he is all out to do so again.

Life and Beat gathers that the fine bloke has released two smoking singles from his forthcoming album.

Darey, who suspended the release of his US album following the death of his label chairman, Dick Griffey (of Solar Records fame), has been busy working with his producer-collaborator Cobhams Asuquo on a new album – his third – planned for Nigerian and international release in a matter of months.

And now, with the full album nearing completion, the singer-songwriter says he’s ready and happy to bless music fans with the first cuts off his yet-to-be-titled LP.

Two singles – Don’t let me know and The way you are – will be released online early thisweek, with an official radio release scheduled for Oct. 25. They will also be available on Darey’s website, www.dareyonline.com and on iTunes.

“We’re nothing without love,” Darey says. “So I like to share life experiences with my music, using love, living, and learning.”

Both songs were written by Darey and Cobhams Asuquo and recorded at Soul Muzik Studios, Abuja, Nigeria.

NETPod – ‘The Way You Are’ + ‘Don’t Let Me Know’ – Darey

Darey

Project Fame alumnus, Darey, has had a relatively quiet 12 months by his standards. With the exception of the odd high-profile performance with his Soul band, and the hype that accompanied the release of his tease of a record, Stroke Me, late last year, the TV presenter, bandleader, business man and MC (I’m pretty sure I left out something here) has been pretty laid back on the entertainment side of things, but all that’s about to change with the release of twin records The Way You Are and Don’t Let Me Know.
Now, if you’ve ever had an insecure spouse or a 0.5 who needed your reassurance on just about everything from their hairstyle, to the color of their nail polish, you’d easily relate to The Way You Are. Cobham’s edgy guitar riffs give this record a soft rock-feel, as a vocally energetic Mr. Art-Alade, plays a reassuring role in your lady’s ear. Don’t Let Me Know is a mellower, more traditional R&B record, with the singer intent on distancing himself from his ex-lover’s newfound happiness, while making a wholehearted attempt to win her love back.
If you like what you hear from the R&B heartthrob, be sure to pick up Darey’s yet-to-be-titled junior album when it hit stores in the not-too-distant future.

Akon goes for stadium-size sound

Akon

Senegalese born act, Akon has travelled around the world as an artist, but the singer wasn‘t just racking up frequent flyer miles. He also soaked up the sounds of the countries he visited. So for his next project, Stadium, the songs are immersed in a worldly mix of dance music, hip-hop boasts, and R&B grooves.

The first single, the David Guetta-produced ”Angel” embodies the direction Akon is taking.

”The music took a turn on its own,” he explained during a visit to the MTV News office .

”I was always the kind of person that just do what I love to do. But as you grow, you experience different things. You start travelling, you start collaborating with different people [and] you start experiencing life bigger than just here. And I think that‘s what curved my music just to start growing bigger: ‘cause I started getting bigger, the music kind of grew with it. I started creating elements that fit my lifestyle as I was living it now, ‘cause I was the type of artist that created my music based from my experience. And nothing has changed,” he added. ”I‘m still that type of artist. I‘m always in Europe, always in Asia, always in India, always in Japan, always in Africa, the U.K., France, and this is the kind of music that I‘m exposed to.”

In addition to Guetta, Stadium will feature collaborations with Ludacris, Rick Ross and Young Jeezy associate Big Meech. Akon, in turn, is set to appear on Guetta‘s next project. The singer said the pair have developed a sound that will be showcased on their own albums as well as projects for others.

”I just do it to the best of my abilities, because I love how the energy flows,” Akon said of joining forces with Guetta. ” ‘Cause I see it and how it makes people feel, how it turns the party out, how it blows the concerts out of the water and you‘re just like, ‘This is it!‘ ”

Stadium is tentatively due for a November release.

2face’s Mistresses In Show Of Shame

What would have tainted the success of 2face Idibia Live in concert held at the sparkling new Expo Centre of the Eko Hotel and Suites was averted.
An impeccable source at the concert said it took the timely intervention of some individuals at the VIP section of the concert’s after party held at Rehab Nite Club, to avert a cat fight that nearly ensued between two of 2Face’s mistresses-Anne Macaulay and Pero Adeniyi.
Showbiz Trends gathered exclusively that trouble started when Anne, who came to the concert with her mom and daughter, Eno Idibia, went backstage to see her longtime boyfriend, not knowing that Pero, mom of two of 2face’s other kids, was also right there with 2face in the VIP section of the club.. Immediately Pero sighted Anne, she made attempt to bar the actress from coming in. However, it was said that Anne forced her way in and shortly a shouting match and muck raking ensued.
The source said Pero threw caution to the wind and started hollering in Yoruba: Ma she girl yi le’se; E fimisile ki n deal pelu girl yi. (I will beat this girl; Leave me let me deal with this girl). But Sound Sultan, who was beside 2Face, eventually saved the day as he stopped her from physically attacking Anne.
However, another of 2Face’s girlfriend, Sumbo Ajamba, also at the concert and after party was said to have maintained her cool as the ladies tore at each other.
A concerned friend of 2face who witnessed the show of shame told Showbiz Trends that it’s high time people talked to the top singer, as the same women that nearly ruined his career are back in his life now when it seems the Benue-born singer’s career is soaring again.
The star has five children from three women and he said he will not abandon the kids no matter what. The three women were at the concert jostling for his attention which resulted in the shouting match between two of the ladies.
Meanwhile, almost everyone that came for the 2face live concert would testify that he is indeed a true super star.
The African Queen crooner has become the rallying point for Nigerian entertainment as the concert venue was packed full with dignitaries and stars from all over the country.

'How I sing reggae from the pulpit'

At the Oasis of Grace Church, he is simply known as Pastor James. But unknown to many, Pastor James used to be Jim Godson, a reggae music crooner, who tried to find his way to fameland but got diverted like Saul on the way to Damascus.

Though he has since taken to the pulpit, James has never forgotten his keyboard and guitar and never overlooked an opportunity to sing melodious tunes. For him, music is a gift, a talent that must not be buried.

And for the sermons, it’s still the same message, only without the rhythm. Pastor James Grand Okocha, who coincidentally is the son of a music teacher, recently launched his debut Awesome God. In this chat with Daily Sun, he spoke about his new effort which he says is a message of ‘keeping on and not giving up’.

Tell us about yourself sir, before now.

I’m Grand Okocha, from Item, Bende local government area of Abia State. For a while I’ve been a pastor, my training has been in the area of ministry. Before ministry by the reason of talent and passion, I’ve been into music(reggae) before I received the divine calling. And ever since then I’ve been on the pulpit preaching for over eight years, at the Oasis of Grace.

Music and Christianity

I’m a pastor as well as a music minister, and I consider the two as being the same. We have the gift of God and the calling of God. The gift of a man makes way for his calling. I’m called to preach and I also have the gift of music. It is the gift that goes first to announce the calling, just like I know there are people that began reading Bishop Oyedepo’s book ever before they had the opportunity to sit under his ministration. So one’s gift is like a forerunner, like John to Jesus. So I’m a preacher and at the same time a music minister.

How I started music

Right from the time of my birth, I’ve been exposed to good music because that’s what my father studied in the university. So right from childhood I’ve watched him play and sing, and as I was growing, the interest grew in me and I found myself playing music.

Becoming a pastor

I started this through God’s inspiration. I was initially singing raggae, it wasn’t gospel neither was it vulgar. Somehow my music had always been religious although I wasn’t a pastor then neither was a committed Christian.

James Grand Okocha

I once had a stage name called Jim Godson. At the time I was working on an album, Back to Eden, and I was in the process of striking a deal with Tabansi records which was the reigning recording label then in Eastern Nigeria (about 16 years ago) , but I was intercepted by divine assignment. I just returned from a show in Umuahia. Early that morning I was going to meet my friend, and I passed by a church with a service in progress.

It was a Methodist Church, and the Sunday service was on. All of a sudden I became frozen on the spot. It was like someone poured cold water on me. Then I heard someone say, “ That place (the church) is where I formed you to be”. I had the same encounter more than two times and in a revelation someone just directed me to Rev David Oyedepo to learn. I’m a graduate of the Word of Faith, from the Bible Institute, so that’s how the whole thing started.

Church business and the ministry

Actually it’s a wrong concept when people say church is not a business. People who are succeeding in the church today have a business approach to it. They do advertise, they work hard, doing everything business people do. And that is where they earn their living.
And that is where the early church failed because they thought church was not business.

The church

The early church failed in the area of prosperity. Because I can remember as a kid, the pastors I saw then on the streets never inspired me, they looked haggard and wretched. Why do you think poor people are referred to as church rats? They tried to bring the church close to poverty, so most of them in the early church approached it as if church was not a business.

They did well, preach to others but most of the pastors died in poverty. Even in the scripture we were told of a man who was referred to as the son of the prophets during the time of Elisha. He died in poverty and even the people he was owing came to take his two sons and that is not the plan of God for us. So we must have this perspective of business to the ministry for us to sit up and work. So it’s business because preachers earn their living from the church.

The new project

It’s called a New Day, it was inspired by the storms of life. Everyone who is a visionary goes through some storms, but you know after every storm, there is a testimony. I’ve gone through my own stormy days, my own days of adversity. And you know people have their own storms, and the idea is if I could come out of my own storms, my dark days, anybody else can. The album was launched in July.

The good news about A New Day

The message centres on the supremacy of God. For example, I was not called to preach everything, but preach something. Anybody that is preaching the whole Bible has not discovered his purpose in the preaching school.

For example, if you listen to Chris Oyakhilome, when he opens Genesis chapter one, before the message would be over, it would become a healing message. If it’s Oyedepo it would be a faith message, if it’s T.D. Jakes, it would be an encouragement message. So we are called to preach specific things. For me, I encourage people, so all the songs are mainly that of encouragement.
