Gus 7: Kunle is the Ultimate Man
Kunle
Kunle Oluremi is ecstatic! Who would blame him? The 23-year-old dude is now a millionaire after winning the Gulder Ultimate 7 Show.
On Thursday afternoon, the Omo Forest, Ogun State, venue of the show witnessed the battle among the three finalists: Adeleke, Atiku and Kunle, to determine who would win the 2010 edition of the GUS, where 12 contestants started the search for the Ultimate Hero.
The contest started after the anchorman, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, explained that the final tasks to determine the champion would be in phases. While the pendulum swings from one contestant to the other among the three finalists, Kunle, however, had the last laugh.
”Am I the Ultimate Hero? Am I dreaming? Ah! Ah! I am the last man standing,” were all Kunle could scream, having realised that he had beaten two others to pick the N7m and a brand new Sports Utility Van among other freebies as the first prize of the GUS 7.
After unhooking his bundled plates and constructing his boxes, the winner ran wildly to the beam; took his machete, set his three boxes, climbed over the boxes, cut the rope that tied the bridge to the beam; ran across it like a wild cat and picked the pole.
Kunle jumped inside the champion spot and hoisted the pole with the champion‘s flag. Kunle‘s countenance changed as he just couldn‘t believe he was the first to make it.

GUS 7: The search gets hotter
Since the beginning of the 2010 Gulder Ultimate Search 7, there has been no love lost between Mercy and Sabdat. Unfortunately, Sabdat, one of Mercy’s arch-rivals, has been evicted from the show.
Her eviction brought sadness to virtually all the other contestants, who couldn’t believe that ‘Mama Jungle’, as she was fondly called, was out of the show.
Kunle counted all the contestants that had been evicted and realised that they were people that have had one issue or the other with Mercy.
Jokingly, Kunle alerted the other contestants that they had to be wary of Mercy because she has been able to get rid of all her enemies in the camp. She was taunted as being in possession of a powerful metaphysical spell.
Somehow, Mercy got to know that she was accused of using ‘juju’ and the jungle literarily erupted. This led to a quarrel between her and Kunle, who claimed he never said anything like that. Others like Chukwuma, Ozioma and Caroline had to join the fray. They all claimed that Mercy was lying against Kunle because Kunle never accused her of using ‘charms.’
When their nerves finally calmed, everybody went to sleep, but the boys stole out in the dead of the night to roast plantain secretly. Unfortunately, Mercy, who was feigning sleep, caught them in the act and begged them to give her some.
Of course, they refused.

End of the road for fortune hunters
Strongface: Shocked at his eviction
With the calm, preoccupied expression of a pedestrian waiting for a street light to change, viewers of popular reality television show, Gulder Ultimate Search, are looking on intently and fervently to see who the next evictee would be.
The last few days have indeed spurned several surprises with some pre-show favourites being shown the way out of the jungle for either failing to meet up in a physical or mental task.
The first evictee was brawny six-footer, Dandison Strongface, who evinced enviable courage and strength, and the right aptitude and attitude from the selection stages, only to falter in the thick of action.
The 22-year-old Rivers State native’s mental capability made mockery of his physical ability during the contestants’ first major individual challenge.
He failed to find solution to his own puzzle and was booted out. He says, “I really feel bad about myself now. I am not supposed to fail in this task today; I don’t know what messed my mind that I couldn’t just focus properly and figure out the right answer.
“Well I believe it is a game. There is bound to be a looser and a winner, and I am the looser. Honestly, I would have loved to stay longer because I enjoyed the company of my friends here. Anyway, it was really fun hanging around them here.”
The eviction of 21-year-old Tonia Oduah remains one of the highlights of the show so far. Her older brother, Melvin, came second in the GUS 6. And she looked forward to surpassing him by becoming the first ever female GUS winner; in another lifetime perhaps.
Lagos-based model, Simeon Okorougo, followed suit. Gloom pervaded the dense jungle when the much-loved Sabdat Bamitale Ahmed was evicted. Nicknamed ‘Mama Jungle’ because of her motherly disposition while in the camp, the 27-year-old basketball player’s eviction was so painful to the other contestants that they decided to immortalise her with a bamboo seat specially constructed and named after her.
Eviction is a debt some of the ultimate searchers owe and the realisation is hitting home more poignantly by the day. This is the seventh season of the show and the last man standing, the Ultimate Hero, will go home with N7.5m cash and a brand new SUV worth over N10m.

Simeon, Sabdat Evicted From GUS
•Simeon Okorougo (left) and Sabdat Ahmed evicted from Gulder Ultimate Dearch
As the Gulder Ultimate Search competition inches closer to its climax, two other contestants -Simeon Okorougo and Sabdat Ahmed were evicted from the show on Monday and last night, Tuesday respectively, leaving eight contestants behind to continue the search.
Simeon, who got the boot on Monday after he came last in the task of the day, had his journey in the jungle terminated right at the task zone. He came last as well as failed to complete the task given them. They were to arrange some set of balls to form the letter ‘dagger’.
On her part, Sabdat, fondly called ‘Mummy Jungle’ by her fellow contestants, did not expect what awaited her at the Place of the Talking Drum last night after she came last in the task she and other contestants were given. She was evicted last night from the show after she came last in the day’s challenge. She was the last to meander through some onbstacles set for them after several attempts.
Bob-Manuel Udokwu, the show’s anchor, had asked her about her failure in the day’s challenge when the contestants met him at the Place of the Talking Drum and she pleaded for a second chance from the Council of Elders.

Gulder Ultimate Search 7: Five Star Treatment For Winning Team
As the competition gets fierce by the day, and with the eviction of two members of the order of heroes participating in this year’s edition of the soar away television reality show, the Gulder Ultimate Search, drama, intrigues, squabbles, tension, failure and success have become the lot of the remaining 10 contestants in this once in a life time fame and fortune seeking adventurous game.
They came back rejoicing from the Place of The Talking Drum where they had gone to display their musical prowess having been schooled earlier in the day by one of Nigeria’s leading music divas, Muma Gee.
It was a wonderful night indeed as a delicious meal also awaited them courtesy Mercy Itohan who was still serving her punishment. They had their fill and chatted freely with one another before going into deep slumber.
The next morning, they all filed out at their task zone for the day’s challenge. Bob-Manuel, the anchor, welcomed them and read out instructions of the day’s challenge; a group game called Sandbag Suck Them. They formed two groups.
Group A was led by Adeleke and Group B was led by Atiku. At the end of the day, Atiku‘s group made up of Adaobi, Chukwuma, Kunle, and Sabdat, won the game. Their prize was a five-star treatment at ‘The Tent of Luxury’.
It was a painful loss for the Adeleke-led group which was made up of Caroline, Simeon, Ozioma and Mercy. Mercy caused the failure of her group by her inability to cross over the beam that others crossed effortlessly.
Their reward according to the spokesperson for the Council of Elders, Bob-Manuel, was “go back to your camp and make sure you fix your tent, the leaking roof must be fixed permanently. Patch up the roof properly and ensure your tent is habitable”.
While serving their punishment, the group decided to pamper themselves with the available food stuffs. They had their bath and ate to their fill since it was just five of them. They came together and inspired themselves happily, making the best use of their situation.
Meanwhile, when the winning team got to the Tent of Luxury, they couldn’t believe what they met. A cosy tent with a refrigerator filled to the brim with all kinds of assorted chilled alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.
There was also more than enough mouth-watering edibles i.e. food and fruits. Soft mattresses, pillows and games were also provided for their total comfort within the time frame that it lasted.
It was a memorable day in the life of the five adventurous youths, searching for fame and fortune in Omo Forest.
