Lionel Richie revealed as entertainment act for AFL Grand Final replay

LIONEL Richie has answered the AFL's last-minute call to be the entertainment act for the Grand Final replay.
The league this afternoon confirmed the US singer would fly to Melbourne to sing at the MCG on Saturday.
AFL spokesman Darren Birch said it was a coup to secure Richie with only days notice.
“It is incredibly important to provide members and supporters attending the game on Saturday a quality experience, and that means presenting premium pre-match entertainment,” he said in a statement.
“The AFL is thrilled to have Lionel Richie perform in front of another sell-out crowd at the MCG and his performance will certainly add enormously to the occasion.”
Richie said he was honoured to be performing.
"I am incredibly fortunate to have been available for this once-in-a-lifetime experience to share my music with my fans," he said.

Unlike previous Grand Final replays, this weekend’s return bout between Collingwood and St Kilda could match the attendance of the original.
The 12,000 MCC Reserve seats made available for this Saturday sold out within an hour this afternoon, leaving only 10,000 members seats and an additional 1000 standing room seats to be filled in the MCC.
This comes after 40,000 tickets allocated to Collingwood and St Kilda members were snapped up in six hours on Monday.
MCC communications manager Shane Brown is confident Saturday’s crowd will threaten last Saturday’s turnout of 100,016 and the ground’s capacity of 100,018.
“Based on the ticket sales we’ve had so far this week, we would expect the crowd for the Grand Final to be very similar to last week,” Brown said.
The 1977 Grand Final replay between North Melbourne and Collingwood attracted 98,366 fans - well down from the 108,224 that attended the draw a week earlier.
The attendance for the 1948 replay between Melbourne and Essendon was a staggering 33,432 down from the week before.
