The NMVA's
The fourth consecutive edition of the Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA) is barely four weeks away. The event, which has grown steadily to become one of the most credible awards in the country, promises to be one to remember. This year’s event will be held at the New Exhibition Hall, Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos on Thursday, 28th November and plans are underway to make this event a world-class one.
Past editions of the NMVA have courted rave reviews from different sectors, most notable the NAFDAC seal of approval. Earlier in the year, NAFDAC Director General and showbiz enthusiast, Mr. Paul Orhii lauded the event as ‘a ‘truly Nigerian’ brand, deserving of all the support it receives.’
The NMVA exemplifies the point that artistes and video directors as well as producers can share the glory side by side on the same stage as witnessed at the very successful 2009 edition. Artistes like H-Man, Jaywon and MC-Loph, who were relatively unknown before the awards, were brought to the fore by the NMVA owing to their well-produced videos. Also, more light was shone on the innovative work of new directors like Mex, Gbenga Salu, Sesan Ogunro, Wudi Awa and Bobby Hai.
In a show of commitment to transparency, NMA organizers have taken a hard-line against lobbyists warning them to remain at bay as only deserving videos will be duly honoured. Canvassing for votes is already on the way and award nominees have started reaching out to their fans to vote on the award’s
