Drug dealer, others arrested at Oko poly

Security operatives on Tuesday arrested Mr. Tochukwu Nzewi, 29, at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State with substances suspected to be Thailand white cocaine and Indian hemp.

Also arrested were three students of the institution suspected to be members of a cult group (Black Axe) and four others accused of stealing the school’s property.

Head of the institution’s security network, Khaki Abdulahi, told reporters that the alleged drug dealer would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

He said the other suspects had been handed over to the police, while other cult members in the school were being sought.

The polytechnic’s Rector, Prof. Godwin Onu, said the war against suspected criminals in Oko had just begun.

He said, “This is a very dangerous development. We are serious in our rebranding efforts in the institution and we are warning that whatever anybody is doing that contrary to the rules and regulations of this school should stop.”

Nzewi told newsmen that he did not intend to sell the drugs to students. He explained that his clients were businessmen in the town.
