Greek police detonate suspicious parcel addressed to French embassy

Greek police detonated on Thursday a suspicious package addressed to the French embassy in Athens, and are examining four suspicious parcels newly found in a courier company in an Athens suburb, according to local media reports.

The first suspicious parcel was detonated by counter-terrorism experts at a courier company in a central Athens district. It was returned to the firm by French embassy employees earlier on Thursday morning, because they suspected it contained a bomb device.

No information about the four new suspicious parcels has been released so far.

According to the latest information reported by Greek media, Greek authorities are continuing their search for more bomb parcels and extremists. Another courier company in an Athens suburb notified police of the four suspicious packages.

It was reported that in the possession of the two young people arrested on Monday they have found a list with potential targets.

One possible target is said to be a European embassy in Athens and the another is said to be the embassy of an Asian country.

Since Monday, Greek and foreign police authorities have discovered more than a dozen booby-trapped parcels addressed to European leaders and foreign embassies.
