UNN has invested so much in Information and Communications Technology infrastructure? What informed this?

Our vision of putting the best and most modern IT infrastructure in place is in line with what is obtainable in other great universities across the world. The idea is not just about installing an infrastructure but for the infrastructure to be interfaced and integrated with a teaching and learning environment; and beyond the infrastructure, we are upgrading our laboratories, our classrooms to what we consider world class, so that we can make our students competitive in a global environment.

So, what was the involvement of Google, MTN and some blue-chip companies in this project and how did UNN get them to support it?

I believe that the problem of the quality of education in this country is not lack of resources. It is the lack of priorities and doing the correct thing. I believe there are lots of people in the private sector that are willing to participate in Ivory Tower development. We have experienced it. When we hosted the Nigeria Universities Games, about 57 organised private companies formed a private sector fundraising committee to help us organise one of the best NUGA games in the nation‘s university system.
