A four-horn sheep.
Song Huali Sheep Farm bought a lucky sheep with four horns from Inner Mongolia, reporters learned from the sheep farm in Henan at 5 p.m. on Nov. 10.
The sheep with four horns was transported from Hohhot, Inner Mongolia at 11 p.m. on Nov. 9. It is a male sheep and about 2 years old, the sheep’s owner Song Huali said.
"On the morning of Nov. 10, we discovered that it has four horns on his head. The news immediately became popular and since the mascot of the Guangzhou Asian Games is a sheep, nearly 100 media groups have called, hoping for an interview after they heard the news," Song said. "I'm afraid that the sheep was disturbed, so I have transferred it to a safe and quiet place after an interview with Dahe Daily."
A sheep with four horns is a result of hereditary variation and the survival rate is less than one in a million. According to current data, the auspicious four-horn sheep is probably the only surviving one of its kind in the world.
Song said that she will donate the sheep to the upcoming Asian Games free of charge, according to the Henan Provincial Bureau of Animal Husbandry and Zhumadian Bureau of Animal Husbandry.
