Lekki-Epe toll plaza: Court to visit highway on Friday

Lekki/Epe Expressway toll plaza
A Lagos High Court on Monday held that it would visit the Lekki-Epe Expressway on Friday to determine the legality of erecting toll gates on it.

Justice Bolaji Candide-Johnson said, “We will meet here at 10am on Friday and move to the scene of the case, constitute the court, agree on the modalities and proceed.”

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that a Lagos lawyer, Mr. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, had on September 28 filed a suit to challenge the legality of the decision of the Lagos State Government to erect toll gates on the road.

But the lawyer to the Lekki Concession Company (the builder and operator of the planned toll plazas), Mr. Tunde Fagbohunlu (SAN), had urged the court to visit the expressway on Monday to ensure a speedy resolution of the case.

Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr. Supo Shashore (SAN), also urged the court to conduct a visit to the toll plaza on Monday.

“I have taken the liberty to invite the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure to assist the court in determining the procedure to adopt on the visit,” Shashore said.
