Indigent residents of Ojodu community in Lagos State have been provided with a borehole located in front of the palace of the traditional ruler of the area by Rotary Club of Omole-Golden.
The club said on Friday in Lagos, that the borehole was aimed at alleviating the problem of acute shortage of potable water, faced by the less privileged in the community.
Speaking at the inauguration of the project, the President of the club, Mr. Lekan Awogbemila, said the borehole was successfully completed because of the cooperation the traditional ruler and people of the community who provided the land where the project was sited.
He noted that the club had resolved to continue to identify with the plight of indigent residents by providing amenities that would ease their sufferings.
Awogbemila said, “No other means will be as effective as embarking on rapid implementation of programmes and projects that are lacking in the society. That is part of the ways of helping the society and promoting the ideals of the club.”
In his response, the Baale of Ojodu, Alhaji Najimudeen Aro, expressed gratitude, to the club, saying the project had signaled the collaboration between the community and the club.
